Our Work

Dr. Alain Jules Ndibanji

Pediatric Surgery

Dr. Alain Jules Ndibanje is a general surgeon from Rwanda. He did his medical studies at the University of Rwanda and finished his Masters of Medicine in General Surgery in July 2015.

Since graduation, he has mainly been working in the pediatric surgery unit at Kigali University Teaching Hospital (CHUK). One of his colleagues is Edmond Ntaganda, who completed a three-year fellowship at BethanyKids Kijabe Hospital in 2016. It was Dr. Edmond who strongly recommended the fellowship program to Dr. Alain.

Dr. Alain arrived in Kijabe to begin his three-year fellowship program in pediatric surgery on September 9, 2017. He chose to enroll in the program because he liked the fact that it was both Christian in nature and strong in reputation. He wanted to focus on pediatric surgery because during his time at CHUK, he noticed- and confirmed- the now well-established fact that children are not merely small adults and that specialty training is necessary to meet their surgical needs.

With God’s help, his hope is that he will finish this program with enough knowledge and wisdom from the Almighty, and go back to help the children at CHUK.

Drs. Dan & Naomi Ochieng

Neurosurgery

Drs. Dan & Naomi Ochieng are a husband and wife team from Kenya and are currently training in neurosurgery in Cape Town, South Africa. They will graduate at the end of 2018, and plan to return to Kenya to support the BethanyKids neurosurgery program.

“A program like BethanyKids needs to be imitated by many other organizations because it provides care for the most vulnerable in the society while preparing for the long term continuation of the program by training post graduate nationals.”
