Dr. George Ngock
Dr. George Ngock is originally from Cameroon, but was raised and educated in neighboring Nigeria. He began his three year fellowship in pediatric surgery at the BethanyKids training program in January 2015, and will complete it in December 2017. He is married to Mercy, and they are blessed with four children (three sons and one daughter). Before joining BethanyKids, Dr. Ngock served as a general surgeon at Banso Baptist Hospital in Kumbo, Northwest province of Cameroon. Cameroon has a population of approximately 23 million people with only five qualified pediatric surgeons. Dr. Ngock reveals that the need for more qualified pediatric surgeons in his country is immense! His decision to train as a pediatric surgeon was born during his three months’ residency rotation at Kijabe in 2008.
Dr. Ngock’s biggest dream is to help train more pediatric surgeons in his home country after the completion of his own training. To help realize his dream, he plans to relocate to Mbingo Baptist Hospital, a training centre for the Pan African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS), at the end of his three-year training. He says, “Pediatric surgical care in Cameroon is really rudimentary, with the number of pediatric surgeons in the single digits! My vision is to contribute in my own small way to help improve pediatric care.”
