How many gifts have you given in your life? Stop, take a moment to count. How many birthdays? Christmases? How many boxes wrapped in brightly-coloured paper?
2,546. That’s how many surgeries the doctors at BethanyKids performed last year. 2,546 surgeries for children prayed for and held close. 2,546 gifts doubled and tripled and quadrupled as our doctors told mothers and fathers and brothers and sisters that they didn’t have to hold their breath anymore. 2,546 whispered thank-yous to God that started with you. Your prayers and your donations passed hand-to-hand through hospital corridors and operating theatres and churches and bedsides. The generosity of the many ending in the shaky hands of a mother holding her child again.
Stop, take a moment to add every one of those 2,546 gifts to your tally of gifts given.
BethanyKids is taking part in #GivingTuesday, a global celebration of generosity that has raised hundreds of millions of dollars for worthy causes.
Following on the heels of Black Friday and Cyber Monday it’s a chance for us to give back. And every dollar counts – because whatever amount you donate to BethanyKids between now and November 28th will be TRIPLED by our dedicated Board members who have personally pledged up to $20,000 in match-funding.
With your help we’re aiming to raise $10,000 (KES 1 million for our friends in Kenya) in #GivingTuesday donations – meaning $30,000 (KES 3 million) to help dozens of children get the surgery they need.
Just go here to donate any time until November 28th, and check the box for #GivingTuesday to triple your donation! For Canadian donors, please enter “GivingTuesday” in the message field. (In Kenya please go here to donate through your mobile.)
Kids in Africa will thank you for giving them the gift of surgery.
“Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give” (Matthew 10:8). Jesus said this to his apostles as he sent them out into the world. Thank you for giving to BethanyKids this #GivingTuesday so that we may also do this important work set out by our Lord.
